With a standard Class B driving licence, you’re allowed to drive motorhomes with a total weight (technically permissible maximum laden mass) of up to 3.5 tonnes. This covers many compact and mid-sized Dethleffs models – including low-profile motorhomes, urban campers and camper vans.
If you want to drive a larger motorhome over 3.5 tonnes, you’ll generally need a special driving licence that will allow you to drive vehicles up to a maximum total weight of 7.5 tonnes.
